Defining Activity Specifications in OWL

چکیده

As the amount of information on the web increases, so does the importance of ontologies available to capture it. This work is concerned with supporting a correct and meaningful representation of activities on the Semantic Web, with the potential to support tasks such as activity recognition and reasoning about causation. This requires an ontology capable of more than simply documenting and annotating individual activity occurrences; definitions of activity specifications are needed. Current representations of activities in OWL do not meet the basic requirements for activity specifications. Detailed definitions of an activity’s preconditions and effects are lacking, in particular with respect to a consideration of change over time. This paper leverages existing work to fill this void with an ontology design pattern for activity specifications in OWL.

Transformation of standardized clinical models based on OWL technologies: from CEM to OpenEHR archetypes

INTRODUCTION The semantic interoperability of electronic healthcare records (EHRs) systems is a major challenge in the medical informatics area. International initiatives pursue the use of semantically interoperable clinical models, and ontologies have frequently been used in semantic interoperability efforts. The objective of this paper is to propose a generic, ontology-based, flexible approac...

OWL/DL formalization of the MULTEXT-East morphosyntactic specifications

This paper describes the modeling of the morphosyntactic annotations of the MULTEXT-East corpora and lexicons as an OWL/DL ontology. Formalizing annotation schemes in OWL/DL has the advantages of enabling formally specifying interrelationships between the various features and making logical inferences based on the relationships between them. We show that this approach provides us with a top-dow...

Multi-step Media Adaptation with Semantic Web Services

An increase in diversity of devices that access the Internet, each with its own specifications, has generated the need for adapted presentations for each specific platform. However, to dynamically adapt these presentations, information from three parties needs to be matched: a description of the target platform’s capabilities and preferences, the structure of the presentation and the media item...

A Semantic Similarity Measure for Semantic Web Services

Establishing the compatibility of services is an essential prerequisite to service composition. By formally defining the similarity of semantic services, useful information can be obtained about their compatibility. In this paper we propose a metric for measuring the similarity of semantic services annotated with OWL ontology. Similarity is calculated by defining the intrinsic information value...

OWL Based Formalisation of Geographic Databases Specifications

The ability to share and combine geographic data from different information sources in a consistent way is a key issue for enabling successful implementation of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). This can only be done through a deep understanding of databases structure and content. In this poster, we propose to do that through the elicitation and formalisation of geographic database specifica...
